In Russia, with referendum held between June 25 and July 1, Putin launches the law he could
become president until 2036 and got more politic force. According to Montesquieu, some
nations should be ruled by democracy and the others should be ruled by autocracy. Russia has
been ruled by autocratic leaders throughout most of its history, including the imperial period and
the Soviet Republic period. Putin, who saw the disintegration of the Soviet Union as the disaster
of the 20th century, restricted the characteristics of Russian republics unlike Yeltsin ,who is the
older president of Russia.
Although Russia has developed economically since 1991, there are still some problems. The
main problems of Russia are population decline and economy dependent only on the arms and
energy industry
Each region has different characteristics that affect its voters. Although this situation brings
differences and similarities together in Europe, Russia’s social life and political movements are
very different from Europe.
Despite the reforms of Peter the Great in the early 18th century, Russia, which did not develop
sufficiently, remained an agricultural society. Russia, which could not keep up with this in the
19th century while a major industrialization was taking place in Europe, continued its old social
life. Karl Marx and no political theorists did not expect a revolution in Russia. But the
transformation that started in 1905 brought the revolution in 1917 and the USSR was
established in 1922 as a result of the civil war.
According to Putin, Russia’s modern autocratic structure is an advantage. By comparing himself
with Trump, he emphasizes that he will not question a governor or prosecutor’s decision. This
shows that the centuries-old Russian autocratic rule is still valid and adopted by leaders and
bureaucrats.
